DIY Surveys
Whilst it is certainly possible for a practice to run its own survey, (and
indeed we provide the Data and Reporting service to support these practices),
the time, effort and costs involved often come as an unpleasant surprise.
Before you embark on a DIY survey, consider the following:
Item
|
Issue
|
Not independent
|
Patients concerned the practice will see their
replies so will not take part or will not answer honestly. |
Too costly
|
"The average GP who has never done any sort of
patient survey will grossly underestimate the time, effort and expense that is
involved." Dr Charles Broomhead, GP Sutton Coldfield
|
Quality of materials
|
Patients expect a high standard of research that
cannot be achieved with photocopies. |
Time consuming
|
Distract medical staff away from patient care. |
Isolated study
|
No comparability with other practices. Timing and
uniform methodology is the key to comparability. |
Lacks credibility
|
Results not impartial - open to bias. |
